JETSTAR’S SISTER VIETNAM AIRLINES
Jetstar Airways (Australia & New Zealand) is wholly owned by Qantas Group. Besides Jetstar, Qantas Group also owns a number of Jetstar’s sister airlines partially. The sister airlines are Jetstar Asia Airways based on Singapore & Valuair, Jetstar Pacific Airlines headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Jeststar Pacific Airlines’ ownership is comprised of 30% by Qantas, the rest 70% owned by Vietnam Airlines. In February 2012, Vietnam Airlines bought a 100% stake in the company. As part of its expansion plan, it is intended that Jetstar Pacific will have up to 15 Airbus A320 aircraft by the end of 2015.
As a cargo service flyer, Jetstar Pacific began operations in 1991. From 1996 to 2005 it operated under the government-owned Vietnam Airlines Corporation. In 2007, the Vietnamese government sold a portion of its shares to Qantas. On 23 May 2008, becoming part of the Jetstar network. It has undergone a restructuring in the past two years and chief executive Jayne Hrdlicka says it is now in a good position, with a fleet of six Airbus A320s providing lower operate costs and good revenue growth. The offshoothas more aircraft on the way and in recent months started international services to Macau.
