Internet contains a lot of information, however, sometimes this information is inaccurate or wrong. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
No one has to approve the content before it is made public. This rule has come through both the internet and the traditional media such as books, magazines, TV news, commercial documents. This information exists in a large variety of facts, stories, intepretations, statistics and is created for different purposes. Its quality and reliability have many levels and range from very good to very bad even shady in between. You might have heard of the information used as a weapon. It is the information warfare. The dishonest people knowingly spread false information of half truth, distortions, urban legends, fallacies, exggerations and plain old lies. The honest people read them and believe everything they read, hear or see. Unfortunately, the honest know a large amount of misinformation and mistakenly spread false information. So, it’s our job to evaluate what we locate in order to determine what suits our needs. We are just cautious and keep a skeptical attitude in accessing internet information. Nor do we become completely cynical to disbelieve everything because large quantities of high quality information has been being created and revised for us to seek confirmation or disconfirmation from other sources. It’s a great demand to enhance our critical thinking and don’t be deceived by appearance of slick imaginary information in some websites.
